Well, a while back I lamented about how the name Andy appeared to be used as a bit of a joke on TV. In the time that followed, I've noticed that there are some stellar Andy's out there, it's just that they tend to be only second best.
Take for instance, Andy Roddick.
Great tennis player. Won the US Open in 2003, but since then, has lost 4 grand-slam titles to Roger Federer (including a heartbreaking loss at Wimbledon this year). An amazing Andy to be sure, but still only second best.
Then there is Andy Schleck.
Never heard of him? Well, he is a professional cyclist from Luxembourg who most recently took second place in the 2009 Tour de France. Sure, beating Lance Armstrong is no small feat, but once again only second best.
Finally there's Andy Richter.

Ok, certainly not an athlete (this picture is from the celebrity softball game as part of the All-Star events). His claim to fame? Playing second fiddle to the new host of the Tonight Show, Conan O'Brien. Sigh.
