Colorado Update

Well, today we trekked down to Moab, Utah, another two hours SW of Grand Junction, CO. My father-in-law and I also had the brilliant idea to take a two mile hike in Arches National Park at around 1:00. The temperature was approximately 98°F. It was fun... and hot.

Here are some pictures from our trip so far. The first are from the Grand Mesa at around 10,000-11,000 ft about sea level, and the rest from Arches National Park.

Once we get back, and move, I'll post a couple new albums to the photos page.

New Haircut

At my church small group this week, I decided to get an amateur haircut. I like it. Carrie says it makes me look like I was in the military.

Vacation

Well, we've made it out to Grand Junction, CO for our little summer vacation. 14 hrs and 850 miles later, that is... Ugh.

I've discovered that my favorite part of the trip is driving through Glenwood Canyon. It really is a beautiful part of I-70.

On another note, I've just completed my first business web design for Balsano's Gelato Café. You can check it out here. I still have some tweaking to do, and I'd like to make the main banner a basic flash menu, but aside from that, it's good to go.

Surprise

Well, Carrie and I got two new hamsters a few days after David died. (I know, so heartless.) Their names are Zoe and Kaylee, and if you don't know what those names are from, you need to find out because it's the best show I've seen in a while.

Anyway, on the morning of July 20th, Zoe gave us a surprise. A litter of 5 baby hamsters, which I'm told are called pups.

Unfortunately, Zoe has made quite a little nest for them, so we haven't really seen anything more than glimpses of them in the last few days. Still, we managed to get this picture on day 1. Hopefully more will follow as they just grow up so darn fast...

Oh, and here is this little guy. He managed to get away from the others for a spell. Looks like he's doing a sit-up.

Sorry about the absence

Well, I realized that I haven't blogged in a while, and there are so many things to write about... just not quite yet. To tide you over, though, I've decided to give you a few videos to enjoy.

The first is my brother and sister and a homemade music video that is very well edited, if I do say so myself...

The second is another do-it-yourself music video, but I have no idea who these guys are. Trust me, though, it's well worth a look.

R.I.P.

I have sad news to report. My hamster, David, a Russian Dwarf, has passed away. He lived for 2 yrs and 2 months, which given a life expectancy of 1.5-2 yrs seems quite good. I'm told that he passed quitely in his sleep and did not suffer...

Requescat in pace, little friend.

Holy cow, what an amazing World Cup final. That headbutt by Zidane wasn't cool, though. Seriously, that was not cool.

Go Italia!!!!!!!!

I suppose we'll be busy at the Gelato store today, eh?

Game, Set, Match

As I sit here watching the Wimbledon semis between Federer and Bjorkman, I need to relate some exciting news. Carrie and I have finally found a place to live next year. It's a duplex a little bit further south of where we live now, but everything has been updated and looks fantastic. This is quite a load off of both our shoulders, so we are definitely going to be celebrating tonight!!

I'm going to hell

So today I was driving and this car kept creeping into my lane. Not just the tire on the line sort of thing, but probably about 3/16ths of the car's width was crossing the line. (Sorry, 1/4 sounded like too much and 1/8 definitely too little. I'm anal, get used to it.) Anyway, after it happened for the third time, I gave the horn a little tap and proceeded to pass the offending car. As it turns out, it was a little old lady in the car, who couldn't quite see over the dashbord.

There's a special place in hell reserved for people like me...

Too much driving

Yesterday morning my wife and I drove 8 hrs to Danville, IL to attend the wedding of her cousin. Then this morning, at the same time as yesterday, 6:30 a.m., we drove back to KC so I could make it to work by 3:00 p.m. Then I worked until 11:45 p.m.

I'm tired...

On a separate note, I figured out how to rip full-length DVD's onto our new iPod via HandBrake. I didn't watch, but listening to the audio was pretty entertaining nonetheless.

Ok, sleepytime.
