Rewrite that quiz

In my defense, Nathaniel took this quiz first. Anyone who knows me will probably realize who ridiculous this result is:

Me, optimistic? A bubbly guy? Well, maybe if you think of me in the right context... NOT!

Carrie says that mabye, underneath it all, I am actually a pretty optimistic guy. I'll leave it to you how far underneath she means...

It's getting hot in here

Well, the temperature hit 90° today, and I'm not happy about it. I put off turning on the air conditioner as long as I could, but with it still being 85°, I thought that I'd better just throw in the towel. Ugh.

On a much lighter note, I have uploaded my recital to my music page, so go and download it. At 192kb/s, these aren't small files, but an upgrade to my DSL should help everyone out a bit.

If you're really anxious for a CD, email me and we'll work something out.

Peace.

All done

All done, all done, I can't believe it's all done.

Well the recital is over and now it's time to start picking out new repertoire and to continue to make Andy Lee the best quarterback ever in Madden '06 superstar mode. Oh yeah. RIght now I'm just chill-axin' as much as I can and trying to enjoy my sudden lack of stress and things to do.

Later today I have my lesson, during which we'll discuss the recital, how it went, new pieces to be thinking about, etc. I'll let you know how that goes.

Also, I hope to post the recital on my Music Page for download in mp3 format later today. Also, I hope to update that page a bit since I haven't done so in probably about a year. Also, I haven't played any Tiger Woods PGA Tour in a while...

Crazy Libs

Yesterday I made some of my special pink play-dough for my kids to bludgeon with. It's a smelly recipe: you mix in a test tube of chocolate shakes, a metric ton of snickerdoodles, a bottle of fresca, and a couple of feet for good measure. Then you stir it up morosely for two nanoseconds or until it becomes nice and moronic. Then you bake it for almost an eon (no more!) and let it cool.

It's a big hit with my kids, who like to make things out of it. My son made a sandbox and sunglasses out of it, and my daughter made a life-sized replica of her evil twin. Then they mashed it all back into a dodecahedron and started over again. My son made a chirping woodchuck, while my daughter smeared it all over the poop and the family wallaby. It took me a century to get the play-dough out of the poop and the wallaby's testes, but they had a lot of fun.

(Hope you enjoyed -- COME TO MY RECITAL! ahem.)

Boot Camp

What was announced today is, well, absolutely stunning. I honestly think that today's announcement is far more dramatic than the move to intel. This is, well, I'm speechless.

In case you aren't a nerd/geek/macophile, today Apple introduced the beta version of Boot Camp, a nifty little program that allows people to install Windows XP alongside Mac OS X. The implications are of course, beyond what I can imagine right now. What I do know, though, is that some mac users are in for a very, very rude awakening.

You see, those of us mac users who have been so for several years, have forgotten (or better yet were never exposed to) the vicious and malevolent environment of the internet. As mac users, we enjoy the obscurity and security of our nifty unix-based opperating systems. So now, imagine for a moment, millions (ok, hopefully just thousands upon thousands) of mac users downloading this program and then installing XP on their little babies. Sure, it's exciting. (Who knew there was so much software?) It can also be leathal.

You see, your average mac user has never run a virus program on his or her computer (we should probably all be using ClamXav regurally anyway) or dealt with spyware and malware and the like. So now, all these mac users are going to jump on the internet with hardly any protection. It's like jumping into a piranha infested river while bleeding from several open wounds. It ain't gonna be pretty. Worse yet, while I don't know how many viruses work, I will venture a guess and say there is a potential to lose not only the windows partition but also the mac side as well. That is to say, while the mac side is safe, it's still gonna go down with the ship. I hope that this is unlikely, I really do.

All that being said, I may yet try this little program. So many games, right? If I do, though, it'll be from a separate hard drive, and with as many possible safety nets.

Hey, if you're gonna play the field a little bit, you're gonna need to use protection.

Oh yeah, it's here...

Well, after a whirlwind weekend of playing piano for kids at the District Music Contest, I'm ready to start the last push to my recital. With just over a week until the date, I'm excited and nervous. I do have the advantage of having played the recital in a formal situation once already, as well as three auditions I had with this repertoire. Wish me luck, or better yet, if you are in the greater KC area (or, frankly, a 1500 mi radius, 'cause I'm that awesome) you should come see me.
